Turns Out Porn Isn’t Recession-Proof

I found this interesting story:

For the first time, this particular industry is starting to feel the pinch. Not surprising considering that there are so many other ways to get porn, both free and commercial. How do you compete with free — for example, the user-supplied content at YouPorn? (Amateur porn must be quite the cottage industry now.) Or the pretty good stuff you find on cable television for little cost — for example, The Movie Network in Canada (eg, MXS, Rogers Cable 303).

I found this comment particularly interesting:

Even if Wicked Pictures has felt the pinch, Orenstein suspects he’s better off than most, since Wicked caters to women and couples — who are more likely to buy DVDs than single men.

I didn’t know that! Wicked caters to women and couples? I have to say, as a man I find their stuff quite appealing.

BTW, SugarDVD may be a popular source for buying DVDs, but I personally prefer Adult Video Universe. Much better selection, especially classical and foreign stuff.
